About Programme


  1. The increasingly complex structure of modern societies meets the social and individual needs of individuals and necessitates the application of professional units to solve the problems they face. As a matter of fact, changes in the structure of individual and social relations caused by sociological dynamics such as urbanization, migration, poverty, violence, stratification, social movements can sometimes bring about negative consequences such as the deterioration of social order, the emergence of insecurity and chaos, and decrease in social welfare and quality of life. In parallel with the growth of the complex structure of contemporary societies, some disadvantaged groups may emerge which become alienated from society, do not get enough share from the social economic distribution, and become asocialized due to their negative experiences. In this context, Social Services is one of the indispensable professions needed by modern societies. ?



  2. Social Services aims to prevent dysfunction and increase the quality of life and social welfare of individuals or groups in need of individual, psychological, economic and social social assistance and support due to their disadvantageous position and at least to minimize the existing negative conditions. Social Services, which aims to maximize the potential of every individual constituting the society, feeds on basic human rights and democratic ideals. As a result of four years of training, the basic personnel required by the social work practices are met with the title of Social Worker or Social Worker, and the need for intermediate staff in the same field is met with the two-year associate degree program established under the name of Hizmet Social Work and Consultancy ”. 



  3. The aim and objective of this program is to train the social workers who are needed in the private sector and non-governmental sector, especially in the public sector where social services are delivered.

History
Şırnak University İdil Vocational School Social Services Program has started to accept students for the first time in 2018-2019 academic year and will give its first graduates in 2019-2020 academic year.

Higher Grade Transition
Graduates who successfully complete the Associate Degree education can pass to the undergraduate programs such as Social Services and Sociology, Social Security, Child Development and Education, Health Management, Elderly Care Services provided that they have enough points from Vertical Transfer Exam.
Graduation Requirements
Students who complete 120 ECTS at the end of 4 semesters and obtain at least 2.00 weighted grade point average out of 4.00 are eligible to graduate.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The students who will graduate from this department have the opportunity to work in Ministry of Labor and Social Services and its affiliated units (Kindergartens, Orphanages, Nursing Homes, Nursing Homes, Elderly Care Centers, Social Service Centers, Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations, NGOs, associations and foundations).
Assessment and Grading
For each course, students are subjected to midterm, midterm (projects, seminars, quizzes, homework, or a second midterm) and final exam. The evaluation of any course for the semester / year may consist of at least one midterm exam, homework, practice and other studies. In the evaluation of each course; the contribution of students to the success grade of midterm, homework, application and other studies in which they are responsible is taken into consideration. Success grade; It is calculated from the mid-term / mid-term evaluation and the final exam grades. The contribution of the semester / final exam to the grade is determined by the units to be at least 40% and at most 60%. According to the decision of the related committee or the related committee, faculty members / lecturers determine the contribution of the studies that will constitute the semester / year assessment to the success grade. The contribution of the midterm / exams determined in the semester / year assessment to the success grade is at least 20%. Students who do not take the make-up exam at the end of the semester / year and / or get a grade of less than 50 out of 100 are considered as unsuccessful. Students who get one of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) grades are considered successful. To be able to take the final exams and make-up exams, if any, from a course or application; the student must attend at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the practical courses. The attendance of the students is monitored by the instructor.
